I was born in Dalton, GA on February 23, 1975. I was given the name George Anthony Wilbanks. When I was nine years old, I began playing the guitar. I have mostly played solo, writing my own lyrics and music. I have been playing, off and on, in a band for the past five years. My favorite guitarists are Steve Vai, Joe Satriani, and Papa Roach . The Doors, Theory of a Deadman, and Staind are the bands I like the most.
My mother and stepfather raised me in Dalton, along with my sister and two half-sisters. While in high school I played a talent show but because of lack of practice it did not turn out well. When I graduated from Southeast High School in 1994, I moved out of my parents home into a small apartment. After a while, I moved to Panama City, FL. In three months time I moved back to Dalton with my parents. In the fall of 1995 I began taking photography classes at North Georgia Technical Institute in Clarkesville, GA. While there, I performed in their talent contest and won. The prize was one hundred dollars, which I used to repair my truck. After the contest I got a paying gig at a local restaurant called Last Train. I also played at a Christmas party at the Dillard House in Clayton.
I graduated from NGT in the spring of 1997. That fall I was accepted at Piedmont College in Demorest. I was going to major in music but because of a lack of financial aid I was unable to attend. I worked at the local Pizza Hut until I went back to NGT to take the commercial truck-driving course. When I graduated, I began driving across country. I traveled the road for the next ten months, but quit so that I could be at home more. I found a job at Clayton City Hall where I worked until I moved to Crossville, TN in September 1999.
In July 2001 I enlisted Talent 2Ks assistance. This was a good idea because I have received some opportunities I would have been unable to get on my own. In the fall of 2001, while living in Crossville I enrolled in Roane State Community College. I took classical guitar and piano courses in hopes of improving on my talent. I feel it paid off. I have also had the chance to perform in a concert at the school. I preformed two nights of a three-night show. The audience seemed to enjoy my music. In February 2002, I was able to go to Fairfield, New Jersey to perform for Black Rose Productions and Writer Records. The president for Black Rose, Tito Batista, his vice president of A&R, Anthony Scalion, and Mr.s McMillan and Drego of Writer Records was in attendance. They all felt I had strong vocals and song structure. I received a publishing contract from Black Rose, which I did not sign. I have also received record contracts from Jet Speed Records, Sonic Wave International, and Red Galaxy Records. Two years ago I played Spring Fest at the Axis Skate Shop in Crossville. There were mostly young teenagers at this gathering, but they seemed to enjoy my music. This past year I played in the "Battle of the Bands" at the Palace Theater in Crossville, TN, in which I placed third. I have made my own CDs in my recording studio at home, and had them reproduced at a local recording studio. I have sold many of the two albums I have out, and the response appears to be very good. I feel I have a good vocal range and would benefit greatly if I could find a band whose talent and dedication matches mine. I need a record company who hears the talent I possess and is willing to make it possible for me to make music for a living. I have a strong need to accomplish my musical goals, and am willing to work as hard and as long as I have to. I would love nothing more than to perform for an audience and make good money at it.
